This bathroom felt like a relic from a bygone era, in desperate need of revitalization. To breathe new life into the space, we turned to one of the most timeless and noble materials: marble
This bathroom in a detached house underwent a complete transformation. All existing sanitary fixtures were dismantled, and the original wall and floor finishes were removed. While the toilet and washbasin remained in their original positions, they were upgraded with sleek, modern replacements. The bathtub was replaced with a generous walk-in shower, enhancing both functionality and comfort.
The floor and most vertical surfaces were clad in luxurious green marble from Guatemala, while the wall behind the shower and toilet was finished in white Bali marble. The addition of white marble not only brightens what could otherwise have been a dark space but also creates a subtle dialogue between the two materials. The faint green veins in the white marble beautifully complement the white specks in the green marble, adding depth and visual harmony.
Marble, with its rich, natural texture, offers a captivating surface that invites endless admiration. However, it’s a material that demands restraint—too much can easily overwhelm the space. In this renovation, the marble is balanced with neutral elements: frosted glass, white porcelain, crisp white plaster, a white timber window frame, and chromed ironmongery. These subtle details provide a calm backdrop, allowing the marble to take center stage without overpowering the room.
The result is an elegant, refined bathroom where natural materials and minimalist design coexist in perfect balance.
